Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
(Ephesians 14-16 NIV)
There is opposition in all things. There are all kinds of life circumstances that can erode our faith. What are some “flaming arrows” that night come our way? Doubt, fear, sadness, depression? Temptations, both to the body and the spirit? What about employment and financial problems, problems in your marriage, or health problems?
All of these could be the “flaming arrows” spoken of in the Bible. You can’t limit yourself to what is written in the Bible word for word. Remember, Jesus used stories and even parables to teach.
We need to remember that we have a shield of faith. A shield is a means of defense in any battle we face. Our faith is built upon Christ and His teachings and can defend us against any assault against us,
Put on your armor, and don’t forget your shield of faith! Blessings!
