For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
(Romans1:17 NIV)
Faith is more than a passive idea; it is a principle of action that motivates our day-to-day decisions and actions. Would a farmer plant if he did not expect to harvest? Would the stud and read and study if she didn’t believe it would improve the quality of her life? Would we work hard each day if we didn’t hope that we might accomplish our goals or something worthwhile? We act daily on things we believe in, though we can not see the end result. It is faith that we live by, whether we call it that or not.
As faithful people, we take this principle one step further. We do things that are motivated by our faith in things promised, not yet fulfilled. We smile in the face of adversity. We continue in prayer even when our prayers don’t seem to be answered. We stop saying, “I can’t,” and start believing God can! Step by step, we put our faith into action and learn to “live by faith.” Blessings, all.
