Present in All Places

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?

If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,

even there, your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

(Psalm 139:7-10 NIV)

The threat “You can run but, you can’t hide” gets turned in its head in this passage – transformed into a promise of God’s presence with us in all places. The Lord isn’t ever going to be left behind when we’re in a place that seems distant or unfamiliar. In fact, He’s already there. It’s a great truth to keep in mind, whether we’re on our way to the dentist or on a trip around the world.

For those who trust in God, the safest place in the world is wherever He leads me.
