I have been doing some reading about earthquakes lately and aftershocks, specifically in New Madrid. Earthquakes occurred in New Madrid in 1811 to 1812. There was such massive destruction and loss of life!
I’m trying to decide if the people had a better chance of survival on land or the Mississippi. Great chasms opened up on land, and fissures spouted all types of heat, water, dirt, and trees that had been felled earlier. The heavy smell of sulfur left people choking.
Three massive earthquakes occurred, ranging in intensity from 7.3 to 7.5 on the Richter Scale. Aftershocks came for months. They never knew when the shaking would stop or start again. What a harrowing, traumatic time to live in!
Thank you, Lord, for the beautiful Saturday You have given us. Please help us increase our strength so that each of us may cope with what comes our way, and continually be grateful to You!
Blessings, all!
