Into your hands I commit my spirit; deliver me, Lord, my faithful God.
(Psalm 31:5 NIV)
I know that releasing control to You, Lord, is one of the hardest but most rewarding steps of obedience that I will ever take. Trusting in Your faithfulness and submitting to Your authority may seem like leaping headfirst into a river; I feel safe standing on the shoreline, looking at the roaring waves below, but I know that I’m missing out on Your best plans for my life. Yes, jumping into a river will sweep me away to places unknown – and take all of my effort to navigate the waters – but the adventure will be worth it!
I want (and need) to trust your faithfulness. I believe that you have great things in store for me. You won’t lead me down a river only to abandon me or leave me injured on the riverbed. My soul is precious to You, and You have a purpose in mind for my life. You are faithful, Lord, and I claim that truth as I jump headfirst toward my destiny.
Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.
