Be alert, and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
(1 Peter 5:8 NIV)
Have you ever gone through a time in your life when you had one crisis after another? When this happens, and it will, you may be under a spiritual attack from Satan. The devil is the enemy of God. He’s a fallen angel who has turned away from God and his mission is to pull Christians away from Him also.
Satan tries to pull you away from God. During times that you face hardship and difficulty, Satan will attempt to use them to distract and pull you away from God. You may even begin to doubt your faith.
Personally, I have been walking in a valley for a long time now. I have been under a strong attack from the enemy lately. He has been relentless with me. Each time I get closer to God, Satan has doubled his efforts to derail my walk with God. During these times, I feel him mock and laugh at me.
Think back to times in your life when you faced crisis after crisis and one roadblock after another. During these times, it’s very possible you were being attacked spiritually.
Once the big problems hit, then did a series of little problems get thrown in for good measure? You think, Seriously?! Now this? I cannot deal with this one more thing (this broken-down car, this repair bill, this flood of water) on top of what I am going through here! No matter, you still must deal with it. At this point, you may feel at the end of your emotional rope. I know I have.
Is it possible this is how Satan is attacking? Yes, I believe so. It’s especially important that we remain in fellowship with fellow Christians while under attack. I always think about the saying, strength in numbers. Someone told me recently, “Of course, Satan is going to attack you. He wants nothing more than to see you fail. He doesn’t want to see you grow God’s kingdom.” We need these reminders regularly. Remember, Satan loves to hit below the belt. He will strike at what matters to you most in the entire world.
Prayer is your powerful weapon against our enemy. Recognize Satan’s attacks. Don’t be ignorant about the spiritual forces at work in your life. Expect the attacks and be ready to fight them with the truth of God’s Word. When I am under attack, my strategy is this:
1 – To put on the armor of God and prepare for battle.
2 – Strengthen my circle of support by contacting my Prayer Warriors.
3 – Remain in prayer.
Blessings, my friends.
