When Love Hurts

But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

(Romans 5:8 NIV)

Sometimes love hurts. God powerfully demonstrated His love for us by sending His only Son to save a lost world. Jesus suffered a horrific death as He was nailed to the cross. He died to give eternal life to all who would believe in Him. How has humanity responded to His ultimate sacrifice? Has everyone received the love He offered? Unfortunately, many have rejected Him. Although we may have received His love for eternal salvation, we still turn our backs on Him daily when we choose to go our own way. Jesus knows the pain of rejection.

Maybe you have experienced rejection by someone you love—a child, spouse, parent, or friend. Jesus knows exactly how you feel. Because of that, He can comfort you and give you the strength to carry on. Take one day at a time, and allow the Lord to mend your heart. Accept the love that He is offering you: blessings, my friends.
