Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
(James 4:7 NIV)
Make no mistake, you and I have an enemy. His name is Satan, and he is relentless, deceptive, and ruthless; really ruthless! Satan is described as a roaring lion that seeks to devour us (1 Peter 5:8-9). Can you see that image in your mind’s eye? I can! However, we don’t need to fear because Jesus Christ has put him behind bars. All Satan can do is roar in an attempt to scare us.
Satan tries to convince us that we are hopeless and defeated. Everything he says to us is a lie! Jesus calls him the father of lies. Satan is the one who has been defeated! He has no power over those who are in Christ Jesus.
The Apostle John assures us in 1 John 4:4 that “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” God has given us victory. When we stand firm and resist Satan, we choose to believe God’s truth rather than listen to Satan’s lies. Faith replaces fear. Satan must flee in defeat.
Don’t let Satan scare you. Stand firm and do not run. You and I are safe in Jesus. May you remember that truth and walk in victory. Blessings, my brothers and sisters in Christ.
