A Diamond in the Rough

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.

(Psalm 139:14 NIV)

Some people have the knack of looking past a run-down, dilapidated house and seeing its potential. They can envision new paint and carpet. In their minds, they remove walls and add features. After purchasing the home, they transform it until the diamond they saw through the rubble shines.

When God looks at us, He sees diamonds in the rough. Looking beyond our sin and inadequacies, God focuses on our tremendous potential. He purchased us with the blood of Jesus. Through His transforming power, the diamonds He created will slowly be revealed. As He pours His love into our lives, we are transformed from the inside out. Beauty is born from ashes.

Transformation is a process that does not happen overnight but over a lifetime. God will chisel away our rough edges to expose the beautiful diamonds He created. The process of being transformed by His love will continue until the day we die. In Heaven, our glorified bodies will be like perfect diamonds that reflect His radiance!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to see myself as You see me. Continue to mold and shape me in agreement to the image of Christ Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
