Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

(John 14:23 NIV)

Jesus makes a sobering statement: If we love Him, we will obey Him. Sometimes we make the right decision to obey the Lord, other times; we may choose to disobey and do things our way. We may mistakenly think that walking with the Lord is too restrictive for us. In a desire for “freedom,” we can become temporarily blinded to the dangers that await us on our own. Like the parable of the lost sheep, the Lord seeks us, finds us, and carries us home. The Lord disciplines us from our good and brings us back to Him.

The Lord always has His eye on us. He loves us and wants to protect us. That’s why He desires that we walk near Him in obedience, content by His side. As our love relationship with the Lord grows, so does our desire to obey Him. We begin to understand that “true freedom” comes through Christ, not without Him. Our relationship progresses from obedience training to profound and timeless. Blessings, all!
