That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
(Psalm 1:3 NIV)
Have you ever seen a root-bound plant? Yellow leaves mean new growth has ceased. Intertwining roots have displaced the soil. Repotting must be done, or the plant will die.
Christians can become spiritually root-bound. Growth is stifled when we become comfortable and complacent. Sometimes the Lord has to take us out of our “comfort zone” and break up our tightly woven roots. He replants us in new soil to facilitate our reliance on Him. This may happen when we relocate, change jobs, welcome a new baby into the family, or maybe go on a mission trip.
It might be scary to leave our well-known environment, but spiritual growth occurs when we do. Change is difficult, but it helps transform us from self-reliant to reliant on God. So embrace change from the Lord.! Allow the Lord to intervene so you can continue to flourish spiritually. Don’t be content to stay in your tight root-bound pot. Grow where the Lord plants you! Blessings all!
