For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16 NIV)
Although God’s love for us never changes, we might not always “feel” His love. We might mistakenly think that during prosperous times He loves us, but when we experience trials or are in the valley, He is displeased with us. Some trials, like being diagnosed with cancer or any severe disease, have nothing to do with God’s discipline. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, we have lived in a fallen world where sickness, disease, and death occur. Even amid the most significant struggles in this life, God’s love is present no matter what happens. He promises, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).
God’s love never changes. It is constant, eternal. Nothing can separate us from His love. His love for us isn’t based on our actions, nor is it dependent on the circumstances of life. God couldn’t love us anymore, or any less than He always does! We never have to fear that God will withhold His love from us.
