Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(Psalm 37:4 NIV)
To delight in the Lord means to take pleasure in His presence—to enjoy spending time together and growing in our relationship. His priorities become our priorities. We typically conclude that if we delight ourselves in Him, He will give us what we desire. In other words, He will give us our desires because we have delighted in Him. Possibly.
But what f the desires came from Him instead of us? Put a different way, when our delight is in the Lord, He imparts desires within our hearts (puts His desires in our hearts). By doing this, He gives us desires that are consistent with His will.
It does sound complicated at first hearing; I understand that. However, the more you consider it, the more sense it makes; blessings, all.
