Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
(Hebrews 10:23 NIV)
Doubt is a common human emotion. Many times, it stems from the belief that we won’t get what we want. Have we ever doubted that God will not provide for our needs? We may think He should be doing things quicker, on our schedule. Doubt is failing to trust God. Doubt can easily lead to fear and hinder our walk with Him.
Jesus tells a story in Mark 9:14-27 about healing a boy plagued with an evil spirit. When Jesus asked the bot’s father if he believed He could heal his son, the father answered, exclaiming, “I do believe; help me to overcome my disbelief!” The father honestly admitted that he struggled with doubt. Yet Jesus still answered the father’s prayer and healed his son.
Jesus understands that we all have doubts and unbelief, so let’s be honest. Let’s follow this man’s example and ask Jesus to infuse us with faith to believe. God will be faithful. He is there to meet our needs; He can help us overcome our unbelief. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope that we profess and trust Him to help us where we are weak. He who promised is faithful! Hold fast to that promise! Blessings, my friends.
