He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
(Psalm 46:10 NIV)
In our hustle-bustle world, it isn’t easy to find time to be still. It seems nearly impossible to have “quiet time.” Yet, that is exactly what our souls yearn for. The busier our lives are, the more quiet time is needed.
When we do make time for prayer, are we more apt to be talking or listening? Prayer is a conversation with God; conversations flow two ways, not only one! It has been said that maybe God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason–we should listen twice as much as we talk!
When we have time to be quiet, we can listen to, meditate on, and digest His words found in the Bible. Quiet time also allows Sarayu to speak to our hearts in a still, soft voice. Not only do these spiritual truths guide us at that moment, but Sarayu can bring them to mind years later!
Prayer time also involves praising God for who He is. We ask God humbly for our needs and to intercede on behalf of others. Our prayer time should include speaking and listening. Make time for the Lord today! We need Him near!
