Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
(James 4:10 NIV)
The world we live in celebrates stardom, and the seemingly logical course of action is to promote ourselves like crazy to make sure we get our slice of the fame-and-fortune pie.
However, James’ advice sounds more like a serving of humble pie; who wants to eat that? That will get you nowhere, or so we may think. Remember, Jesus humbled himself in the most profound way, and the outcome of His humility is reigning forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
We don’t need to be afraid of quietly walking as we serve God with sincere hearts. God remembers every faithful step of our journey, and one day, on this side of eternity or the other, He will commend us.
