Suffering

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

(2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

No one is exempt from suffering. Although it is painful at the time, we need to remember that our suffering has a divine purpose. We can count on God’s comfort and strength to help us endure. The Apostle Paul reminds us that because we experience God’s comfort during our trials, we can offer the same comfort to others when they face suffering. Because we have experienced suffering of some kind and survived, we can comfort others. The experiences don’t have to be the same. That is terrific news we can share with them! Since God has been faithful to deliver us, He will deliver them.

We are encouraged to pray for one another when others are experiencing hardships. James 5:16 says, “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Christ will intervene. He will answer prayer and grant power where needed. God’s strength is sufficient for any trial.
