The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
(Isaiah 61:1 NIV)
Jesus came to set the prisoners free—that includes you! Although we may yearn to be free, many things can hold us captive. Addictions, destructive relationships, personality weaknesses, or sinful habits can rule our lives. The price for freedom was paid when Jesus died on the cross. Even though we have been given freedom, we may have difficulty experiencing it. What is holding us back?
Stepping out of captivity to freedom can be scary. Even though we don’t want it, captivity might have become familiar. Freedom requires stepping out of our comfort zone. Do not be afraid. Jesus paid the price for our freedom, and He is the One who gives us the strength and power to embrace it.
Blessings, all!
