When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
(Psalm 118:5-6 NIV)
Many circumstances in life can leave us shaky emotionally: a business collapse, terminal illness, divorce, or job termination. We don’t know how to take the next step. I’m sure many of us have experienced at least one of these examples. We wonder if life will ever be normal again. Haven”t you experienced that feeling? I know I have.
When life throws us a curveball, there are spiritual truths we must remember. God is good; His love endures forever. He hears our cries; He has set us free! I will not be afraid because He is always with me.
The answer is trusting God instead of man. He will never let us down, and He will never leave me. God will never forsake me. He’s my strength, and His right hand has done many things. He disciplines me for my own good because He loves me. God uses all things—even what I am experiencing now—for good in my life. We can give God all praise and glory as we recount all of His promises. We need to remember that He sees us through both good and bad ones.
