But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
(2 Corinthians 4:7 NIV)
When trying to reach the lost for Christ, we must not become discouraged or distressed when our efforts seem to be in vain. It is the power of the Holy Spirit (Sarayu) that draws people to God. Only the infinite power of God can overcome spiritual blindness—removing the spiritual blinders of sin.
What is our role? We are to be living testimonies of His truth. When hardship strikes, we should cling to the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to give us strength and power to endure. Non-believers will take notice. Then the light of Christ will shine brightly and reveal the power of the Holy Spirit that is at work in our lives. Like the Apostle Paul, we will be able to say: “We are hard-pressed on every side, but not in despair, persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9).
