Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
(Matthew 19:14 NIV)
Jesus showed great love and compassion for children. Jesus commended their simple faith and humility while urging adults to follow their example. Children should never be held back from coming to Him. All children must be introduced to Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Most of us have some contact with children—our children, grandchildren, family, and neighbors. Do we look for ways to pass the Word onto them? Do we take them to church, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School? Do we behave the same that we profess to believe?
Children can understand John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We, as adults, must examine our hearts. Are we approaching Jesus with childlike faith? These are prerequisites for salvation. We must set a godly example in both word and deed to all children with whom we come into contact.
Dear Lord, please help me be a shining example to all of the children in my life. Let them see humility in me and place their faith in You. Amen.
