Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
(John 4:35 NIV)
Many times, the disciples were so focused on Physical priorities that they missed the spiritual truth that Jesus was trying to teach them. What about us? It is easy to become so consumed with work, deadlines, children’s schedules, and our homes that we miss spiritual reality.
There is nothing more important than the redemption of a person’s soul. How can we play a part in this? Do our lives exemplify one that is serving the Lord? The question has been asked: If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? That’s a sobering question.
What influence do I have to lead others to Christ? How much emphasis do I put on this? Do temporal interests consume my life, or do I see things from an eternal perspective? Jesus calls us “the light of the world” in Matthew 5:14. Then He urges us in Verse 16 to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Is our light helping others to see Christ more clearly?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, help me to reach out to others who do not know You. Teach me Your ways. Amen.
