You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
(Psalm 63:1 NIV)
Is your soul thirsty, or are you completely satisfied? We were created to know our Creator. We were made to be in a love relationship with our heavenly Father. There is restlessness in our souls—a search that compels us to seek Him. We are not satisfied until we find Him.
Our search begins with an act of will. We must earnestly seek the Lord by setting our minds to do so. This involves humility, sincerity, and purpose of heart. We must admit our spiritual thirst and hunger and seek the One who can satisfy our yearning.
Begin by reading the Bible. If you don’t know where to start, turn to the Gospel of John. Get involved in a Bible study or Sunday school class, or read a daily devotional. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you and open your mind to spiritual truth. Let Him speak to you by being still and listening. Pray. When we earnestly seek Him, we will be richly rewarded.
Lord, I want to know you more. Help me take the necessary steps needed to grow in my relationship with You. Amen.
