Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
(1 Peter 2:1-3 NIV)
How can we determine if we are maturing spiritually? These are some characteristics that indicate spiritual growth:
- We have a hunger to know God.
- We have an increased awareness of sin.
- We are sincerely repentant and desire to be more Christlike.
- We view spiritual battles as avenues of spiritual growth.
- We have a desire to be used by God in the lives of others.
- We have a desire for godly obedience.
- We have an increasing faith.
- We have a hunger for private devotion.
- We have a desire to please God.
- We have a passionate love for God.
How are you doing? The fantastic news is there’s no limit! We can continue spiritually to grow until we meet Jesus face-to-face.
Lord, You know how inadequate I feel many times in my spiritual walk. Please help me not become discouraged. Help me to take daily steps in Your direction. Amen.
