How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
(Psalm 119:9-11 NIV)
The Bible is God’s instruction book for believers. Most of us have access to a
Bible, yet how often do we open it? Instead, we might spend hours watching TV, or maybe our jobs or children take up all of our time. However, when we neglect the reading of His Word, we’re flying blind through life. We can’t discern God’s will and easily fall prey to sin.
If we believe that the Bible really is God’s Word, how can we ignore it? Peace with God only comes when we have a close relationship with Him. Relationships are built by spending time together. God already knows all about us. We come to know Him through spending time in His Word. Choose to grow in your relationship with the Lord by reading the Bible.
I once heard the Bible described thus: the road map to life. That description struck me! What do we do if we’re going somewhere and lose our way? We look at a map to get back on course! Keep the Word close to your heart, so it’s always with you!
