Eyes on the Prize

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

(2 Corinthians 4:17-18 NIV)

How can any affliction be considered slight? It was the Apostle Paul who wrote these words these words. Paul was whipped, beaten, and almost killed by rock-throwing antagonists. He was the victim of several shipwrecks, exposed to the elements, imprisoned, and abandoned by friends who ‘couldn’t take the heat.’

Because Paul believed his future in Christ would hold great wonder and blessings, his temporary hardships were of little consequence. He had his eyes on the prize, and in light of his goal, everything he went through to reach it was worth it.

So be not disheartened if your life is difficult. Take courage and be inspired by the Apostle Paul, as I am. Blessings to you all.
