I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.
(Psalm 71:22 NIV)
I might not be able to praise you with an instrument, Lord, but I can still thank you for your faithfulness.
When I’m folding laundry, I can praise You for the clothes on my back. When I’m stuck in traffic, I can praise You for the beautiful scenery around me. When I’m fighting my Ménière’s, I can praise you for the Spirit You breathed into me. And when the people I love struggle, I can praise you for bringing such wonderful people into my life.
This gift of life is precious, and I know that my eternity is secure in You. Though my days are not always easy, I know that you stay faithfully by my side – guiding my steps and filling my heart with joy.
I praise you with all of the resources at my disposal, Lord. I know that You treasure the motive of my praise – not the means.
