I heard a story recently and must share it. A gentleman passed on and met St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. They began a conversation about the man’s life.
“So, tell me what you’ve done,” St. Peter began.
“Well, I’ve been a preacher for 40 years and led many to Christ.”
“Good!” St. Peter replied. “I’ll give you a point for that.”
The man thought to himself, A point??
“What else, my son?”
Now this conversation seemed like it was taking years! “A point for 40 years service?”
“Yes,” St Peter smiled, “What else, my son?”
“I’ve fed and clothed many of the poor and homeless in my ministry.”
“That’s worth a point,” St. Peter replied, adding another point to his tablet.
Frustration began to build in the man, even though he was speaking to St. Peter.
“How many points do I need to get into Heaven?”
“Four.”
Just then, a man came walking past and went straight into Heaven without pausing to speak to St. Peter.
The man spoke up, saying, “What about him?”
Looking up, with a grin on his face, St. Peter replied, “Oh, he doesn’t play this game!”
Blessings all!
