We all look forward to our vacation. We plan intently. Many of us plan what we will do, even up to the minute-by-minute details. We yearn for it because we’ve worked so hard prior to leaving and are disheartened if our plans don’t come to fruition.
The same can be said about our journey Home. We have been taught right and wrong in our infancy, about our Creator. Throughout our life, we have learned about the Trinity or Triune — the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Every experience we have had since our birth has been to prepare us to go Home.
Someone once said that you start dying the minute you are born. I believe that, though not in a morbid way. Birth is the beginning of our journey Home, in my mind. You can’t get to your destination unless you begin your journey. To the store, to work, to visit your friends, anywhere!
Our entire lives are a journey on our way to the most excellent and favored destination, Heaven and eternity, with our Savior! No baggage to pack and lug with us; the heavy, sinful luggage we all have. We can lay that at His feet early on because there is no need for it when we arrive. And when we appear at the gates with St. Peter and are greeted by our Lord, He will present us with our crown, saying, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!”
I long for that day and those words; to be in His presence again! Blessings, all!
