A Nudge

According to Merriam Webster’s Dictionary, here are some definitions of the word nudge – to touch or push gently; to seek the attention of by a push of the elbow; to prod lightly; urge into action.

Have you ever felt a nudge and no one was around you? When I was a kid, it used to scare me whenever it happened. I thought it was someone playing a joke on me; I only had one friend as a child. Anyway, as I grew, I realized somehow what was going on. I still didn’t know who did it, though. It always seemed to happen when I was supposed to do something or tell someone something. Not a teacher at school; it was more personal. Similar to a secret between two close friends that needs attention in some way, more than sharing.

As I got to know Papa, Jesus, and Sarayu (the Holy Spirit), many things were explained in adulthood. The person nudging me was Sarayu. Sarayu is the Indian word for a common wind, one that appears out of nowhere when you are so hot, to cool you down. It is also the name of an ancient river.

The next time you feel that gentle breeze from nowhere, take the time to enjoy it. More importantly, the next time you feel a nudge, quiet yourself and listen.  Blessings!
